was amazing! Gabby and I had tea with our slum school creator as well as some of her friends. We had an awesome conversation about the importance of volunteers and how much of an impact that we can have on the children. I felt much better since there’s been a lot of questioning myself of how much of a difference I could really make. It was also really interesting to see the contrast in standard of living between the upper class and lower-class citizens of India. Dr. Sivita’s husband was telling me how people come to India, see the nice 5 star hotels and fly all over India and think that they have seen India, when in reality they have no idea. He said it’s good that people come to India and stay with real people, live in real conditions and talk to the people of the country. It was awesome conversation and even better company.
After tea, we got dropped off at Geoffrey’s pub for a few drinks and tasty foods. One of the girls we live with is doing her internship there for hotel management and she gave us the hook up! The guys kept giving us food and letting us try different drinks. I had a drink called Exotic Mix and Gabby had the same drink, but with a little twist to it. The food they gave us was chicken with mint chutney then some fried vegetables. BOMB.com! Then some creeper Scottish guy came to the bar trying to buy us drinks. At that point we had had our drink and taste of food, so we were more than happy to make our exit. Overall, successful and wonderful Sunday evening. It was great experiencing a bit of the social scene here in India. Sleep time!
