I really appreciate this chick right now. These past few days we’ve experienced a lot of difficulties with our host programs, so we’ve been able to bond over our frustrations. She also was the one who I went on my first street adventure with. We had an intense conversation last night about finding peace and being in relationships. I was having a rough time with some personal relationships back home, and she helped me to work through some of the deeper issues at hand. She told me this one thing that I find to be absolutely amazing. It goes:
Immature love: I love you because I need you.
Mature love: I need you because I love you.
Wow, what beautiful advice. She’s only 21, but she’s gone through a lot in her life and was able to speak a lot about loving yourself before loving someone else. It amazes me how quickly I can open up to a person I’ve only known for 3 days and the same for her to open herself to me. I think a lot has to do with our shared experience and having done some personal growth together. She also said that people in relationships should grow together, rather than one growing once they get together. She’s truly a blessing and I’m sad she’s leaving on Saturday :/ If there's one thing that has come from this trip so far, it's an appreciation for people like Silpa who have beautiful hearts.
