Day two of photography was just as awesome as the first day. I worked with younger students today who didn’t know English as well, so it was a bit more difficult to explain to them the settings on the camera. However, they learned very quickly from watching me and other students who knew what they were doing. The students absolutely loved looking at their photos on the computer. I wish you all could see the way their faces light up. It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed. I’m posting my favorites from the day. They keep getting better and better!
On a side note, I had a terrible experience on the rickshaw ride back to my hostel. A man on a motorcycle saw me, licked his finger, rubbed it on his lips and waved to me. I felt sick to my stomach and totally disgusted. I looked away immediately and just felt so augh. I’m trying to get used to the staring that the men do here, but these gestures took it to a whole new level. When I looked forward again (because in the rickshaw I was facing the traffic behind us) he did it again. Sick to my stomach. I was so angry the rest of the ride back. I was talking through it with Gabby and I realized how much of a stronger woman I am because of all these events. I walk with my head high and I won’t back down just because a group of men are trying to intimidate me. I feel so strong these days and I feel like I’m really growing. At last!
